Strap in, pilots! Free Fly Week is back and blasting off this Thursday, April 17, giving newcomers and veterans alike a chance to explore the Star Citizen universe—absolutely free.
🚀 What is Free Fly?
Free Fly events are CIG’s way of opening the doors of the ‘verse to everyone. For a limited time, anyone can create a Star Citizen account, download the game, and jump into the action without purchasing a game package.
Whether you’re new to the stars or returning after a break, this is your ticket to test out ships, explore planets, and try your hand at combat, hauling, mining, and more.
🛩️ What Ships Can You Fly?
While CIG hasn’t dropped the full roster just yet, Free Fly events typically feature a curated lineup of flyable ships—often highlighting a mix of combat, cargo, exploration, and starter ships.
If history repeats itself, we may see:
- Aurora MR – solid all-around starter
- Avenger Titan – great first ship with cargo and combat versatility
- Cutlass Black – fan favorite with a bit of everything
- And possibly a few surprise additions 👀

Free Fly isn’t just a great chance to recruit your friends—it’s also a perfect opportunity to try ships you’ve had your eye on. Paired with in-game ship rentals and events, it gives everyone a reason to log in and take flight.
